After a long pause in hosting in-person gatherings, many nonprofit organizations find themselves asking the same question: Where do we begin?
Senior Transportation Connection (STC) came to Palmer Event Solutions at exactly that moment — ready to bring events back, reconnect with supporters, and recenter their mission in the community — but unsure how to restart. Rather than rush into a major fundraiser, STC partnered with Palmer Event Solutions to build a thoughtful plan and create a pathway toward long-term success.
Start with Strategy
Every strong event begins before the first invitation is sent. The first step? A Strategy Session with Palmer Event Solutions. These sessions bring teams and key stakeholders together to clarify goals, define a shared vision, and create actionable next steps. Whether reimagining a longtime fundraiser or restarting after a hiatus, we meet organizations where they are and help them move forward with purpose.
Friend-Raiser First
At the end of the Strategy Session, the next step was clear: before asking for financial support, STC needed to do something even more foundational — bring people together.
They moved forward with plans for a “friend-raiser,” designed to introduce new donors, patrons, and community partners to the organization’s impact.
STC hosted its first Ice Cream Social, an open-house-style event welcoming the community to their headquarters. Guests enjoyed complimentary treats while mingling with staff, volunteers, and resource partners. Simple, accessible, and budget-friendly, it was the perfect re-entry point: low pressure, high warmth, and centered on storytelling.
Build Toward a Signature Moment: Ride & Thrive
With momentum restored and community engagement growing, STC was ready for their next chapter: a new signature fundraiser.
In May 2024, Ride & Thrive debuted at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History — an evening designed to celebrate mission, honor long-time supporters, and elevate the partnerships that make STC’s work possible. The event welcomed 250 guests and served as both a fundraiser and a mission moment – with sponsorship as the primary driver of support and a program centered on impact and community recognition. Ride & Thrive marked a meaningful return to gathering, storytelling, and forward motion for the nonprofit — and its long-term goals.
The Power of a Phased Approach
What made this partnership so successful wasn’t just one event — it was the intentional progression:
Strategy before execution
Connection before the ask
Momentum before scale
STC’s journey is proof that after a hiatus, the best way forward is to rebuild thoughtfully, step by step, with the right support alongside you. Because when people can get where they need to go, everything becomes possible.
